Variants is a card piece based on free material combination, represented by different types of notation – imprecise, fluctuating, graphic, textual and illustrative. Different strategies of interaction between musicians and ways of constructing of compositional material create a lot of variants of performing the piece and allow to involve different groups of instruments and almost any amount of musicians. On this album are presented the excerpts of two sessions with the same group of instruments, showing the difference in stylistic approach and in the way of text organization. First session (in reality – the later one) consists of performing short, more aphoristic parts with concentration on dynamics and more delicate sounding, while the second one is based on freer duration of parts and more expressive development of texture.
